PDF to MIDI: Check the Score Before Using the Result
Check page coverage, missing notes, ties and practice-track assignments before using a recognized score in a lesson or DAW.

Choose the right input
The PDF converter accepts PDF files. For a score image or an existing MusicXML/MXL file, use Sheet Music to MIDI. If you can obtain the notation file from its author, direct MusicXML parsing avoids the image-recognition step. Recognition from a PDF remains a draft that needs correction.
Check every page and the last measure
Compare the first and last measures of each page with the MIDI, not only the opening melody. Blank covers, faint scans, cropped staves and long scores need particular care. If notes are missing, try a cleaner score or smaller page ranges and verify the joined result. A nonempty MIDI does not prove the whole PDF was read.
Listen for rhythm and repeated attacks
Check rests, accidentals, chords and tied notes. A tie continues one note across a boundary; it should not sound like a new attack. The MusicXML parser merges contiguous ties within a voice and staff, but that does not repair a PDF recognizer that missed the tie or note. Always compare the source.
Prepare practice tracks carefully
An upper staff is not always the right hand, and an instrument track is not automatically one hand. Check cross-staff passages and voice assignments before making separate practice files. Use a notation editor when you need detailed hand separation. PureMIDI does not promise automatic left/right-hand separation.
